Teeth whitening by bleaching is a relatively simple and inexpensive way to improve your smile.
At home whitening involves having a set of thin plastic covers, custom made to fit your teeth exactly. The whitening gel
is then placed in the covers and worn either for 1 hour a day or 4 hours overnight.
It takes one to two weeks to complete the whitening process. To achieve the best results, the whitening gel must be in contact with your teeth for the nominated time and not diluted by saliva.
This is why the custom made cover is important, because it minimises saliva getting into the cover and diluting the whitening gel.
Studies have shown that the whiteness normally lasts a few years, although many people 'top up' the whiteness once a year.

With either method, the amount of whitening achieved varies from person to person, and ranges from a small difference in whiteness, to a large improvement. Usually, however, you will get a noticeable improvement in the whiteness of your teeth.
