Implants

When one of your teeth is unavoidably lost, an implant is one of the options that can be used to replace the tooth. It is made of ceramic or titanium, and is inserted into the jaw. The implant is then allowed sufficient time to permanently attach itself to the jawbone. A crown is then attached to complete the restoration of the tooth.

Implants can be used to replace front or back teeth, or single or multiple teeth. They can also be used to firmly secure dentures or whole rows of artificial teeth. They have been used for over twenty years, and with the new techniques now available, are around 95% successful.

For an implant to be successful, you need sufficient bone structure to support the implant, and ideally you need to be a non-smoker. We will be happy to discuss these issues with you.
